Shannon Jones directs the conservation programs at Frost Science, leading community engagement and actively managing conservation grants and budgets. She oversees its signature volunteer habitat restoration project Museum Volunteers for the Environment (MUVE) and The National Coral Reef Conservancy (ReeFLorida). Jones also actively works to build partnerships with related experts at universities and research institutions to support current and future exhibition development and programming.
Prior to working with Frost Science, Jones was the education manager at a local aquarium attraction, where she developed her skills in informal education and community engagement. Always passionate about the environment and marine life, Jones earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology, with a focus in animal behavior and cognition at Penn State, before earning a Professional Science Master’s in marine conservation at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School for Marine and Atmospheric Science. She is a certified Florida Master Naturalist and Land Steward, and grew up in Coatesville, Pennsylvania.
