Frost Science Members are invited to join the MUVE team for a day of restoration planting at Crandon Park.

The Museum Volunteers for the Environment (MUVE) at Frost Science hosts monthly volunteer workdays for anyone who is passionate about restoring Miami’s natural environment. On Saturday, March 16, we’re making it a special opportunity for Frost Science members. It’s time to #getmuving!

Please wear sun protection, bug protection, closed-toed shoes, and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. All materials, water, and snacks will be provided. We encourage you to bring your reusable water bottle.

Registration is required by Thursday, March 14. Participants under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Participants under 18 years of age must have signed waiver by parent or legal guardian. Must be logged in to membership account to register.

Directions to check-in

  • Check-in will be located at the picnic tables next the Crandon Park Open Seas Cafe concession building, located at the south end of Crandon Park at the address 6747 Crandon Blvd on Key Biscayne.
  • To get to the meeting location, enter Crandon Park on the Oceanside using the “South Beach” entrance which is the third left-hand turn into the Park. Proceed past the information booth and follow the curve to the right where you can park your vehicle in the first few rows of the lot. Parking is free for registered volunteers and passes will be provided upon check-in. After you have secured your vehicle, proceed to the sidewalk and turn left (north) and follow the path toward the beach where you will see a yellow food concession building with a covered patio. Check-In will occur adjacent to the building.

Community Service Hours

  • We offer community service hours at all MUVE events. Please come find us after the event to sign forms.

Safety

  • The completion of Frost Science waiver and Miami-Dade County waiver are required for participation. These waivers are both included in the registration process.

Citizen Science Cleanup

  • Download the free CleanSwell  app for your smartphone prior to your arrival! Then you can submit data directly to the Ocean Conservancy’s global ocean trash database, which provides researchers and policymakers a snapshot of pollution problems and the data to help develop solutions. You can track your positive impact through the CleanSwell app on any smartphone.
