Eligibility:
This Contest is open to all Frost Science members who were members as of September 23, 2020, and who, at the time of entry, are legal U.S. residents located in the U.S. Employees, officers, and trustees of Museum of Science, Inc., and its onsite vendors, and advertising and promotion agencies, as well as the immediate family members and/or persons living in the same households of each, are not eligible for this Contest. This Contest is void where prohibited.

Entry Form:
Sponsor is not responsible for any entry errors or failures, regardless of whether they are human or technical in nature. Sponsor is also not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry of information, whether caused by Internet users, or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Sweepstakes, or by any technical or human error that may occur in the processing of the entries in the Sweepstakes. Sponsor is not responsible for any lost or misdelivered mailed entries. In the event of a dispute regarding the individual who actually submitted an entry the entry will be deemed submitted by the person in whose name the Instagram account is registered.

How to Enter the Contest:
This Contest is open to all Frost Science members who were members as of September 23, 2020 who attend the Frost Science Members-Only Preview on October 9, 2020 who are dressed in a costume that complies with the below Costume Guidelines, and who properly complete and submit an Entry Form. Individuals under the age of 18 who wish to be entered into the Contest will need to have a parent or guardian 18 years of age or older sign the Entry Form and their behalf. Such parent or guardian will be deemed to be the legal entrant of the Contest in all such instances. Entrants will need to visit a judging station where they will have their picture taken for consideration by the judges.

No purchase is necessary to claim a prize. Limit one Contest entry per person.. By entering, all participants agree to be bound by the official rules of these Contest. Vermont residents may omit return postage.

Costume Guidelines:
Entrants may come dressed in any costume of their choosing; entrants are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite superhero, villain, animal, plant or a combination of any of those combined; judging criteria will include an assessment of how well each costume depicted the superhero/villain, animal/plant themes.

  • Costumes must be family-friendly and may not be offensive or objectionable as determined by museum personnel in their discretion.
  • Costumes may not be primarily based upon a depiction of any particular race, religion, nationality, or condition of disability.
  • Costumes may not make an overt political statement of any kind, regardless of the underlying messaging.
  • Costumes may not contain any weapons or any item that might be mistaken for a weapon, prop or other component that might be mistaken as a weapon, regardless of whether it is empty or incapable of being fired.
  • Costumes may not contain sharp objects, large metal components, or other components that might pose a risk to a guest or animal, including without limitation, glitter, confetti, or electrical components.
  • Costumes may not drag on the ground.
  • Guests who do not adhere to these guidelines may be refused admission or asked to leave the museum unless his/her costume can be modified to adhere to these costume guidelines.

    CONSISTENT WITH THE MUSEUM’S COVID-19 OPERATING AND SAFETY PROCEDURES, ALL VISITORS TO THE MUSEUM—INCLUDING ALL CONTEST PARTICIPANTS—MUST WEAR AN APPROPRIATE CDC FACIAL COVERING AT ALL TIMES WHILE ON MUSEUM PROPERTY. ACCORDINGLY, COSTUMES MAY NOT INCORPORATE ANY MASK OR OTHER FACIAL COVERING OF ANY KIND OTHER THAN AN APPROPRIATE CDC FACIAL COVERING.

    COSTUMES MAY INCORPORATE HEADWEAR SO LONG AS THE INDIVIDUAL’S FACE REMAINS UNCOVERD BY SUCH HEADWEAR AT ALL TIMES.

    All interpretation/implementation of these Costume Guidelines shall be made by museum personnel in their sole discretion.

    Judging Criteria/Selection of Winners:
    Members entering the Contest will be entered into a category (each entrant may only be entered in one category) as follows:

  • Children (up to age 12)
  • Adults (age 13 and above)
  • Groups (2 or more individuals of any age)
  • You must complete a Contest Entry Form to enter the Contest and provide all information requested. (A parent or guardian over the age of 18 will need to sign the Entry Form for entrants under the age of 18 and such parent or guardian will be considered the legal entrant of the Contest.)

    All entrants must visit a judging station in the museum to afford the judges an opportunity to view and evaluate their costume. The costumes will be judged by a panel of judges selected by the sponsor, who collectively have experience and expertise in costume design, comic book development and creation, animal husbandry, and/or marketing.

    Costumes will be judged based on the following criteria:

  • Creativity/Originality
  • Presentation of Entrant (enthusiasm, personality)
  • Overall Quality of Costume
    • In the event of a scoring tie, a winner will be selected from a random drawing of the tied entrants.

      Winners will be selected by the judges no later than October 13, 2020 from among all eligible entries received. Judges’ decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest. ODDS OF WINNING ARE BASED UPON THE NUMBER OF ELIGIBLE ENTRIES RECEIVED. Winner will be notified by e-mail. Prize will be awarded in the name of the entrant whose name appears as associated with the potentially winning entry.

      ALL ENTRANTS MUST CONSENT TO HAVING THEIR PICTURE TAKEN IN COSTUME TO ALLOW THE JUDGES AN OPPORTUNITY TO EVALUATE THEIR COSTUME. PICTURES WILL BE USED SOLELY FOR JUDGING AND PUBLICITY PURPOSES ONLY. ALL PICTURES ARE THE PROPERTY OF MUSEUM OF SCIENCE, INC. AND WILL NOT BE RETURNED TO ENTRANTS.

      By entering the Contest, participants agree to release and indemnify Museum of Science, Inc., and its retailers, distributors, advertising, and promotion agencies, as well as its and each of their respective directors, trustees, officers, employees, and shareholders, from any and all liability, loss, damage, or injuries of any kind sustained in connection with their participation in the Contest or from their acceptance, receipt, possession, and/or use or misuse of any prize, or for any typographical or other error in the printing, offering, or announcement of any prize.

      IN NO EVENT WILL ANY OF THE FOREGOING ENTITIES OR INDIVIDUALS BE RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR LOSSES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR ACCESS TO AND USE OF THE CONTEST OR THE DOWNLOADING FROM AND/OR PRINTING MATERIAL DOWNLOADED FROM THE CONTEST. SOME JURISDICTIONS MAY NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OR EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES SO SOME OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.       Participants further acknowledge that said parties have neither made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation, or guarantee expressed or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any prize, including, but not limited to, its quality or fitness for a particular purpose.

      Publicity Release:
      By accepting a prize, each winner agrees to the use of his/her name, likeness, voice, and/or biographical information by Sponsor, or any party authorized by Sponsor, for advertising and promotional purposes, without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law. Entries (including costume pictures) become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned.

      Applicable Law; Arbitration:
      This Contest is governed by U.S. law and is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited by law. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrant and Sponsor in connection with this Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Florida without giving effect to the conflict of laws, and any matters or proceedings which are not subject to arbitration as set forth in these rules and/or for entering any judgment on an arbitration award, shall take place in the State of Florida, in the City of Miami.

      The parties waive all rights to trial in any action or proceeding instituted in connection with these Official Rules and/or this Contest. Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to these Official Rules and/or this Contest shall be settled by binding arbitration in accordance with the commercial arbitration rules of the American Arbitration Association. Any such controversy or claim shall be arbitrated on an individual basis and shall not be consolidated in any arbitration with any claim or controversy of any other party. The arbitration shall be conducted in the State of Florida, in the City of Miami, and judgment on the arbitration award may be entered into any court having jurisdiction thereof.

      If any provisions of these Official Rules are determined by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid or unenforceable, such determination shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision.

      General:
      All taxes and any other fees or costs associated with the Prizes are the sole responsibility of the winner. The Prizes are nontransferable, and no substitutions or cash redemptions will be made, except as provided herein. In the event a Prize is unavailable, Sponsor reserves the right to award a prize of equal or greater value. The winners will be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and a liability and publicity release within 5 calendar days of the date when such documents are sent to winner, or prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. The Prizes will be awarded to verified winners.

      In the event of noncompliance with these Official Rules, if a winner cannot be reached at the e-mail address in winner’s entry form within 5 calendar days of the first attempt, or if the prize or prize notification is returned as unclaimed or undeliverable, the particular prize will be forfeited, and an alternate winner will be selected.

      Sponsor is not responsible for any damage to a participant’s system that is occasioned by participating in this Contest or by downloading any information necessary to participate in the promotion.

      Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, theft, or destruction, or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Entries that have been tampered with are void. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any participant who Sponsor determines, in its sole discretion, has threatened the operation of this Contest or website, or violates these Official Rules. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend this Contest should viruses, bugs, or other causes beyond Sponsor’s control corrupt the administration, security, or proper play of this Contest. All federal, state, and local laws apply.
