Janet Schoenfeld oversees the implementation, in selected Head Start classrooms, of the museum’s Early Childhood Hands-On Science (ECHOS) Family Engagement Program. She delivers professional development to preschool teaching teams and parent leaders, and participates in a range of community engagement activities, including specialized field trips and museum-based family events. In addition, she collaborates on development of the River of Grass exhibit and early learning materials for visitors and field trip groups.
Schoenfeld has taught in preschool classrooms and provided professional development for the past 19 years. Her efforts have focused on developing and implementing the frameworks of Harvard’s Project-Zero and Visible Thinking, Creative Curriculum, Quality Play is Learning, Project Approach and Reggio Emilia philosophy. Schoenfeld holds a master’s degree in early childhood education from Lesley University in Massachusetts.
