Book a field trip or private event with MUVE today! At your event, volunteers will step outside and give back to the earth through hands-on activities and citizen science-based initiatives. Our three event themes include the following:
Restoration Event: Volunteers visit one of MUVE’s active restoration sites, participate in a historic walking tour, and then get their hands dirty managing invasive species and planting native plants to enhance the ecosystem and build coastal resilience. This 2-hour event includes snacks, water, tour, restoration activity, and complimentary parking. Max 50 participants.
Coastal Cleanup: Volunteers visit the North Point of Virginia Key to learn about ocean plastics and pollution, clean the beach, and track and monitor the trash collected. This important data is uploaded to a citizen science app called CleanSwell that helps researchers and policymakers better understand and manage our shorelines. This 2-hour event includes snacks, water, beach clean, collaborative trash count, and complimentary parking. Max 50 participants.
Bioblitz: Volunteers will visit a local park, school, garden, or natural area to take wildlife photos for science. Using a citizen science app called iNaturalist, volunteers will document biodiversity in a bioblitz-style event, paired with discussions on urban biodiversity, the importance of urban green spaces, and best practices for wildlife photography and documentation. This 2-hour event includes snacks, water, bioblitz activity, material kits to help document and identify urban wildlife. Max 50 participants.
