Joining Frost Science in September of 2016, Capt. Pat Kelly is responsible for all aspects of diving operations, training and equipment maintenance, both within the aquariums and when the staff is working outside in marine environments. Kelly, who holds many recreational and professional diving certifications, became enchanted with diving as a child while watching the television show “The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau,” and began SCUBA diving in 1989 while stationed in California with the U.S. Navy. He went on to work as a PADI IDC staff instructor, a Diver Medical Technician, and as a safety supervisor on several commercial and military marine salvage operations around the world. Originally from Mt. Clemens, Michigan, Kelly grew up in a military family, living in several international locations. He earned a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health from Columbia Southern University, and is currently working toward his master’s degree in that field.
